About the role
We’re excited to share that we’re currently hiring for the position of Team Leader – Underground. This role involves leading a dedicated team to ensure the safe, high-quality delivery of bulk explosives to our customers, with a strong focus on environmental responsibility.
The Team Leader will work closely with Bench Assistants, MMU Operators, Shotfirers, and the Site Supervisor, overseeing all activities related to loading, tying, and firing blasts.

What you will be doing
- Report all Unusual Incidents and Accidents immediately:
- Participate in daily Toolbox talks and Monthly Safety Meetings;
- Undertake all and any necessary training for Operations, SHEC and site specific requirements;
- Maintain all personal training against the Orica training Matrix for your role;
- Ensure all emergency equipment and First Aid kits are complete;
- Maintain professional relationships within Orica and with customers;
- Perform other ancillary duties including relief at other locations, consistent with level of competence as reasonably instructed by the supervisor.
What you will bring
- A diploma or certificate in mining engineering, blasting operations, or a related field is often preferred;
- Manage and guide Bench Assistants and MMU Operators to ensure efficient and safe operations on site;
- Oversee all tasks related to loading, tying, and firing blasts, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards;
- Maintain high standards in the delivery of bulk explosives to customers, focusing on reliability and precision;
- Work closely with Shotfirers and the Site Supervisor to align daily operations and resolve any on-site challenges.
