About the role - Specialist - Project Delivery (36737)
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Specialist - Project Delivery within the Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals team focused on delivering allocated capital projects as a member of the site PMO. Project delivery from conception through to handover to operations, ensuring Orica’s project processes, governance requirements, hazard study methodology, Management of Change (MoC) procedures and SHES (Safety, Health, Environmental & Security) policies are rigorously applied through execution.
What you will be doing
- Receives project briefings and works with stakeholders to clearly define project objectives, scope, and battery limits.
- Prepares capital expenditure proposals in line with Orica’s capital investment process to progress projects through investment phases.
- Develops key capital proposal deliverables, including cost estimates, project schedules, and risk registers.
- Prepares engineering scopes of works and manages engineering scope tenders and award.
- Applies sound engineering judgment to ensure practical, fit for purpose design solutions are delivered by the project.
- Develops and maintains project schedules that clearly map the delivery path from conception to close out.
- Monitors actual costs against approved budgets and provides early escalation when cost risks or deviations emerge.
- Prepares and maintains monthly cost forecasts using a schedule based logic approach.
- Works closely with the PMO Operations Readiness resource to ensure master data, maintenance strategies, spare parts, and operating procedures are developed or updated in alignment with operational requirements.
- Facilitates development of construction scopes of work and manages tendering and contract award processes.
- Collaborates with the PMO Construction Supervisor to ensure construction activities are thoroughly planned, safely executed, and aligned with project scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Facilitates commissioning planning to ensure safe and effective handover to operations.
- Monitors, documents, and reports project progress and performance to stakeholders and the PMO Manager.
- Ensures compliance with all project governance processes and procedures.
- Ensures project delivery aligns with Orica’s project process and SHES (Safety, Health, Environment & Security) requirements.
What you will bring
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Equivalent practical work experience will be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with project management.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement.
• Ability to plan, influence & execute.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders.
Role dimensions
• Must be open to reporting to the site 5 days per week at the Winnemcucca Plant
• Individual Contributor with no direct reports

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
