About the role - Safety Department Administrator - SHES Security (Winnemucca, NV)
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Safety Department Administrator within our Specialty Mining Chemicals team.
The Safety Department Administrator provides support to enable excellence in Safety, Health, Environment and Security (SHES).
This position is responsible for managing administrative tasks for the site, onboarding and offboarding contractors, and ensuring the security of the organization’s premises. It also requires a blend of organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic security knowledge to support the smooth operation of the office and safeguard company assets.
Work schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Two shifts: 6 AM to 2 PM or 10 AM to 6 PM
What you will be doing
Administrative Functions:
- Reports to the security manager and supports SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, and Security) team
- Manages, orders, and conducts inventory of office supplies
- Coordinate meetings, lunches, appointments, and travel arrangements
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, reports, and presentations
- Maintain and update company databases and records in SharePoint
- Works on Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentation templates
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages
- Manage document control and records management process
Security Functions:
- Manage incoming and outgoing contractors
- Monitor cameras and control general access to the site
- Conduct regular security checks and patrols with company vehicle
- Respond to security incidents and emergencies
- Maintain security logs and incident reports
- Coordinate with external security services as needed
- Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures
What you will bring
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer systems
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Basic knowledge of security systems and protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate and work in a team environment
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize various projects, ongoing daily tasks, and high-priority situations to maximize efficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to follow up, as needed to ensure tasks maintain forward motion
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to display solid judgment on when to escalate problems
- Capacity to manage and adapt to changing priorities
- Needs to be a team and solution-oriented
- Working closely with peers within the team
- Ability to be personable and work well with others within and outside of immediate work group
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions
Your qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Certification in office administration or security management is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years in an administrative role is preferred
- Experience in a security-related position is preferred
- Must be able to clear motor vehicle report
