About the role

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for an HRBP within our Orica Speciality Mining Chemicals team.

 

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) Winnemucca provides HR leadership and business partnering support to enable the safe, compliant and effective operation of the Winnemucca Manufacturing Site.  The role partners closely with site leadership to deliver Orica’s business objectives and people strategy through expert HR, ER and legally compliant advice, strong manager capability uplift, and execution of change processes.  With a strong on site presence, the HRBP plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and appropriately resourced plant, supporting site growth, leading local HR integration and change activities, and ensuring consistent application of HR policy and governance frameworks.  This role also provides remote HRBP support to a small number of leaders in other parts of North America.

What you will be doing

Strategic & Operational Business Partnering

  • Act as the primary HR Business Partner to site leadership, providing trusted and pragmatic advice.
  • Translate operational plans into people strategies that support safe operations, workforce stability and future site growth.
  • Support and strengthen site culture and employee engagement by enabling consistent leadership behaviours, effective communication and early resolution of people issues.
  • Proactively identify people related risks and opportunities, providing timely advice and solutions aligned to Orica’s values, policies and risk appetite.
  • Support leaders through complex and sensitive people matters with sound judgement, discretion and a strong focus on risk mitigation.

 

Employee Relations

  • Provide expert advice and hands on support to leaders in managing ER matters, including performance management, misconduct, discipline, grievances and attendance management.
  • Lead and conduct workplace investigations as required, ensuring procedural fairness, compliance and high quality documentation.
  • Monitor and interpret workforce trends, providing informed ER/Legal advice to leaders to support compliant and sustainable decision making.
  • Support the consistent application of employment legislation and HR policies at a local level.  Knowledge of Nevada law will be important.

 

Workforce Planning, Resourcing & Capability

  • Partner with site leadership and the regional talent acquisition team to support workforce planning and resourcing strategies that ensure the plant remains safely and sustainably staffed.
  • Work closely with HR Centres of Excellence (COEs) to deliver recruitment outcomes, while partnering with site leadership to maintain strong site level ownership of role scoping, candidate assessment and onboarding.
  • Support talent identification, succession planning and capability uplift initiatives to build leadership and technical depth at site.
  • Coach leaders one to one to strengthen people leadership capability, accountability and confidence.

 

Change Management & HR Integration

  • Lead and support local HR integration and change management activities, to align with the HR Operating Model.
  • Translate organisational or regional change programs into clear, practical site level actions and communications.
  • Provide change coaching to leaders, ensuring people impacts are anticipated, managed and communicated effectively.

 

Policy, Governance & HR Operations

  • Ensure consistent and compliant implementation of HR policies, frameworks and processes at site level.
  • Partner with Regional HR Employee Services teams to deliver seamless HR operational support, escalating issues where required.
  • Support the implementation of organisational wide HR initiatives and projects at the site, ensuring alignment with local operational realities.

 

Reporting & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with HR COEs to manage service delivery, provide site feedback, and ensure site requirements are clearly understood and met.
    Support the Senior Manager HRBP, as required, in the preparation and delivery of HR reporting (e.g. HR dashboards, key people metrics) to functional and business stakeholders.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with site leaders, community representatives (where applicable), and broader HR stakeholders.

What you will bring

 

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or other relevant field.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, collaboration and Influencing skills.
  • Working knowledge of relevant employment legislation, law and awards, i.e. Federal and Nevada Law.
  • Change management skills.
  • Strong administration and organisation skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a virtual team.

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
