About The Role – Fleet Maintenance Depot Supervisor (Winnemucca, Nevada)

 

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Fleet Maintenance Depot Supervisor to join Orica's Supply Chain team supporting our Specialty Mining Chemicals (OSMC) business in Winnemucca, Nevada.

 

In this role, the Fleet Maintenance & Depot Supervisor will oversee operations for our hazardous materials logistics depot, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant management of Orica's T14 ISO tank container fleet and chassis network used to transport manufactured sodium cyanide (UN3414 & UN1689).

 

This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of fleet maintenance, tank preparation, mechanical maintenance, yard mobilization, and regulatory compliance.

 

The role ensures maximum fleet availability, operational readiness, and the safe transportation of highly regulated hazardous materials. The successful candidate will lead efforts to maximize fleet availability and operational readiness while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in the transportation of highly regulated hazardous materials.

What you will be doing

 

T14 ISO Fleet Prep & Maintenance

 

  • Oversee pre-trip and post-trip inspections of T14 ISO tank containers to ensure compliance with DOT, IMDG, and International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC) requirements.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs, including valve servicing, gasket replacement, repairs, and coordination of required 2.5-year and 5-year hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.
  • Supervise specialized tank cleaning, purging, and drying processes required for T14 tanks prior to maintenance activities or product loading, collaborating closely with Operations as needed.

 

Yard Mobilization & Spotting

 

  • Coordinate and track the movement of ISO tanks, chassis, and related equipment throughout the yard using specialized yard equipment, including yard tractors and forklifts, to support loading operations and maintain efficient yard flow.
  • Position empty and prepared ISO tank containers for loading in alignment with production schedules and operational requirements.
  • Partner with production leadership to ensure ISO tank availability supports sodium cyanide briquette manufacturing and shipment schedules.
  • Manage the inbound receipt and outbound release of ISO tank containers with third-party transportation providers, ensuring equipment is properly staged, assigned, and dispatched.
  • Maintain organized yard operations by designating storage, staging, and loading areas to prevent dispatch errors and optimize asset utilization.
  • Coordinate with third-party maintenance vendors to schedule and complete annual inspections, preventive maintenance, and required repairs for chassis equipment.

 

Depot & Facility Management

 

  • Maintain exceptional housekeeping and organizational standards throughout the depot to promote a safe work environment, ensure efficient traffic flow, and support overall operational readiness. Assist with site perimeter cleanup, fence maintenance, and other facility maintenance activities as requested by the Winnemucca Plant Manager.
  • Utilize Terminal Management Systems (currently M3 and Power BI) to monitor and track container status, including Dirty, Clean/Prepped, Loaded, and Out of Service, while maintaining accurate equipment records and inventory visibility.
  • Oversee containment areas, stormwater management, spill prevention systems, and environmental controls within the depot footprint to ensure compliance with company, regulatory, and environmental requirements. Immediately notify site leadership of any uncontrolled release, employee exposure, safety concern, or environmental risk.

 

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

 

  • Enforce strict compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, safe work practices, and handling protocols associated with sodium cyanide and other high-consequence hazardous materials.
  • Serve as a key member of the site's emergency response and spill containment team, supporting incident response, emergency preparedness drills, and continuous improvement of response procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready records of tank inspections, maintenance activities, certifications, regulatory testing, and employee training to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

What you will bring

 

  • 5+ years of experience in chemical terminal management, intermodal depot operations, fleet maintenance, or bulk liquid and solid hazardous materials logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of T14 ISO tank container specifications, including valves, top-loading systems, lining integrity, inspection requirements, and certification processes.
  • Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR, IMDG Code, OSHA regulations, and International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC) standards preferred.
  • Experience operating, managing, or coordinating yard equipment, including yard hostlers/yard dogs, forklifts, and other material-handling or coupling equipment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate fleet maintenance programs, equipment inspections, regulatory testing, and asset utilization in a highly regulated industrial environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate activities across operations, maintenance, transportation providers, and external vendors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with fleet, terminal, or asset management systems; experience with M3, Power BI, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of industrial operations, maintenance, and leadership experience will be considered.

Physical requirement:

 

  • Regularly work in both office and outdoor industrial environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and movement throughout the facility and yard.
  • Perform inspections of ISO tanks, chassis, valves, hoses, and related equipment.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Wear required PPE and comply with all site safety requirements.
  • Safely navigate active industrial areas and participate in emergency response activities as needed.

  • This position requires on-site work at the Winnemucca facility.
  • Responsible for the supervision, training, and performance management of assigned employees.

Your qualifications

 

  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designation or ISO tank inspection certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a proven ability to foster and maintain a proactive safety-first culture.
  • Proficiency with Transport Management Systems (TMS), fleet management software, SAP Logistics modules, or similar operational platforms.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data management and reporting tools.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
