About the role
Orica is seeking applications to join our Blasting Services team in the role of Hypercharge™ Drive (HcD) Technician. This position is critical to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our Hypercharge™ Drive systems - advanced units designed to load blast holes with explosive chemicals in underground mining environments.
As a Hypercharge™ Drive Technician, you’ll apply your auto electrical expertise and mechanical aptitude to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair cutting-edge equipment. You’ll work across multiple sites on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, supporting operations during breakdowns and emergency call-outs, and ensuring our systems deliver maximum safety and reliability. Comprehensive training on Orica’s Hypercharge™ MaxiLoader™ units will be provided to suitable candidates.
What you will be doing
- Operate and maintain Hypercharge™ equipment to meet safety, quality, and productivity targets;
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues;
- Provide responsive onsite and phone support for breakdowns and emergency call-outs;
- Collaborate with site leadership and engineering teams to implement reliability strategies;
- Ensure compliance with Orica’s safety protocols and regulatory standards;
- Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and team activities;
- Support onboarding and training of new team members.
What you will bring
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in mobile and/or fixed plant maintenance;
- Auto electrical or electrical trade qualification (Advantageous);
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems (Advantageous);
- Experience working in underground mining environments with strong mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to troubleshoot under pressure and manage competing priorities;
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Familiarity with Orica systems and safety frameworks (Advantageous);
- Willingness to travel and work across diverse operational environments.
