About the role

 

Join our team as a Specialist – People & Capability in this 12-month contract role, where you’ll partner with business leaders and the broader team to deliver practical, consistent, and compliant people outcomes across our Orica Digital Solutions business. This is a dynamic role combining both operational and advisory responsibilities, with a strong focus on business partnering, employee relations, compliance, and driving impactful people initiatives.

 

You’ll act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for more complex matters, while also contributing to projects that strengthen people practices, governance, and organisational capability—making a real impact on how we support and grow our people.

 

This role offers flexible work arrangements and capacity, with options from at least 3 days per week through to full-time.

What you will be doing

 

  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders, understanding priorities and delivering practical people solutions, while embedding key initiatives and driving sustainable outcomes
  • Support cross-functional people projects and partner on key employee lifecycle activities, including performance, talent and succession initiatives
  • Manage complex employee relations matters and act as a key escalation point for sensitive or high-risk cases, partnering closely with People Advisory and business leaders
  • Provide practical, compliant and commercially sound advice, ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures and employment frameworks
  • Support key alignment initiatives across Digital, including organisational design, job architecture, and compliance with Australian employment frameworks
  • Identify and address gaps in people processes while partnering with People Advisory and Centres of Expertise to ensure strong governance and legislative compliance
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights and supporting reporting to inform workforce and business decisions
  • Support the successful delivery of integration activities and help embed consistent ways of working following organisational or structural changes
  • Partner with People Advisory to ensure coordinated, aligned and effective people support across the business

What you will bring

 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in ER / HR / People & Capability roles, with demonstrated expertise in managing employee relations matters
  • Strong ability to build trusted relationships and partner proactively with leaders, showing curiosity, ownership and understanding of stakeholder needs
  • Solid knowledge of Australian employment legislation and modern awards, with a focus on compliance and governance
  • Experience supporting organizational projects, contributing to successful business outcomes
  • Ability to balance operational delivery with project-based work in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of translating business requirements into clear, practical and actionable people guidance
  • Comfortable handling sensitive matters with sound judgement and making balanced, commercially minded decisions
  • High attention to detail and ability to collaborate effectively across People teams and the broader business
