About the role
Are you passionate about creating safer, healthier, and more sustainable workplaces? Join Orica as a Senior Specialist – SHES and play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement across our Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHES) function throughout the Australia Pacific Region.
In this senior-level role, you’ll bring your expertise to the forefront by applying Orica’s SHES Management System in alignment with statutory requirements, helping us maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance.
You’ll also be a key partner to our Supply Chain & Distribution Team, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of goods and materials. Your work will extend to engaging directly with Orica’s Transport Contractors—building strong relationships, ensuring compliance, and championing a culture of safety and operational excellence across our transport network.
You'll work Monday to Friday from our Perth office, in a supportive team where your ideas matter and your impact is real, combining big-picture thinking with hands-on action. What you will be doing
- Key Accountabilities Drives implementation and embedment of Orica SHES Department processes and programs;
- Verifies and ensures compliance with Orica Group standards and procedures, and implement corrective actions to address findings;
- Manages & supports compliance with relevant regulatory requirements that are associated with day-to-day operations;
- Coaches and supports leaders to conduct and review investigations including identifying direct and root causes, and support identification and tracking of corrective actions.
- Collaborates with other internal and external specialist for collaborating on best practise and the improvement agenda relevant to the position and its requirements;
- Drives the implementation and management of preventive and mitigating controls to manage SHES material risks.
What you will bring
- At least 5 years’ experience post professional qualification in Health & Safety, including experience with contractor management is desirable;
- Demonstrated skills associated with building strong external & internal relationships;
- Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups;
- Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives would be desirable;
- Demonstrated knowledge in safety & health regulatory frameworks, risk management and systems.
