About the role


Orica has developed the world’s first through‑the‑earth wireless blasting technology, WebGen™, and we are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – WebGen™ to support the ongoing deployment, optimisation and technical leadership of this technology across customer operations.

Based in Perth with regular site engagement, this is a senior technical role where you will act as the subject matter expert for WebGen™, providing engineering leadership, operational support and mentoring to technicians, engineers and customers.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable and effective delivery of WebGen™ services while driving continuous improvement, training capability and customer value.

What you will be doing

 

  • Act as the senior technical authority for WebGen™, providing engineering leadership and subject matter expertise;
  • Support the safe implementation of WebGen™ across customer sites in line with Orica and customer standards;
  • Provide blast design support, oversight of execution, and post‑blast analysis and optimisation;
  • Deliver product stewardship and technical assurance to ensure safe, reliable performance;
  • Lead trials, new technology rollouts and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Coach, mentor and support WebGen™ technicians and engineers, including contribution to training programs;
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with customers and site‑based stakeholders.

What you will bring

 

  • Degree qualification in Mining Engineering, Engineering or a related discipline, with 5+ years’ mining or related industry experience;
  • Strong commitment to safety, procedural discipline and effective risk management;
  • Proven ability to operate calmly and effectively in technically complex or high‑pressure environments;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence, advise and build credibility at all levels;
  • A proactive problem‑solving mindset and sound engineering judgement;
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to operational sites as required;
  • Experience in open‑cut metal mining and/or WebGen™ (user or trainer) experience highly regarded, but not essential.
