About the role

As a team leader for our technical services engineers and technicians, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise to mentor and guide a team of talented professionals. You will also be actively involved in technical projects that drive success and create value for our Underground metalliferous mine customers in WA, SA, and the NT.

This is a Perth-based role with a standard Monday to Friday roster (5:2) and regular site visits (up to 30% travel).

What you will be doing


As Lead – Technical Services (Underground) you will report to the Technical Services Manager and your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing team of technical services engineers and technicians to drive growth and development.
  • Providing technical blasting support and optimising drill and blast practices to meet customer needs.
  • Peer reviewing blasting designs and providing technical advice for improvements.
  • Supporting training of Orica blasting systems/products and drill and blast practices.
  • Managing technical blasting projects to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting key account relationships.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards and regulations.
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation of Orica's processes, technologies, and systems to deliver exceptional results for our customers.

What you will bring

 

  • 5+ years of drill and blast engineering or operational experience in the Underground mineral resources industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Underground blasting principles and practices, including electronic blasting systems.
  • Competency in general drill and blast designs, pre and post-blast measurement and assessment techniques.
  • Experience in managing technical blasting projects from start to finish.
  • Ability to execute drill and blast plans, troubleshoot customer concerns, and undertake complex blast designs.
  • Skilled in risk assessment of different blasting approaches, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, policies, and regulations.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role will be advantageous.
  • A degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
