About the role
We are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications from MMU Operators for the fresh new career opportunity of WA Metals Relief Team Operator in Perth, Western Australia.
Our Relief Teams are one of the most important functions of our business, and consist of a number of experienced Operators who provide annual leave coverage at a number of our Open-Cut customer sites. Our Relief Team are a tight unit, who work closely together to achieve our operational goals, and experience a variety of mine sites, customer operations, terrains, and commodities.
Reporting to the Relief Team Supervisor, you will be based in Perth on an annualised 8/6 roster (flexibility to work varying rosters is key), and specifically trained and supported to operate an MMU. All travel, flights, accommodation and meals will be covered by us while you work away. The MMU is a highly advanced Heavy Rigid vehicle fitted with latest technologies and onboard computer systems, and is used to pump explosives in Open-Cut mine sites.

What you will be doing
- Operating our MMU vehicles (Mobile Manufacturing Units) and other associated blasting plant and machinery;
- Providing operational blasting knowledge and advice to our client blast crews and associated stakeholders;
- Assisting with preventative maintenance on all associated Plant & Machinery;
- Assist with the 'hands-on' delivery of explosive products down pre-drilled blast holes on bench;
- Working in tight unison with your teammates to provide excellence in service to our valued customers;
- Demonstrating and setting the example of our key company value: 'Safety is our Priority, Always';
- At all times acting with integrity and respect.
What you will bring
- A current Heavy Rigid (HR) drivers licence, or the ability to gain this prior to your commencement;
- 2+ Years blast crew experience; Open Cut or Underground
- A genuine interest in the technical aspects of blasting;
- Ability to pass all required security checks in which to obtain a Dangerous Goods license;
- An excellent, positive and team based attitude where you look out for your mates;
- A basic mechanical comprehension is advantageous, but not essential.
