About the role

 

In our Digital Solutions Orebody Intelligence (OBI) group we design and commercialise cutting-edge measurement technology that is reshaping the Mining and Exploration sectors.

 

We are looking to add a Lead Electronics Engineer to our downhole geophysics team; a critical role as we transition from a working prototype spectroscopy tool, to finalising the production version. You will be leading a small team of electronics and mechanical engineers, working alongside the other friendly and knowledgeable engineering teams across the group. The position is based in Welshpool WA, the hub of Orebody Intelligence technology design and manufacture in Australia.

 

The Lead Electronics Engineer is a critical role in delivering this market leading technology and continuing to push the boundaries in geophysics.

What you will be doing

 

  • Leading, managing, and supporting a small engineering team to achieve project and department goals whilst remaining hands-on in electronics.
  • End-to-end development and support of advanced geophysical logging and telemetry tools.
  • Designing and reviewing electronic assemblies and firmware (Linux, C++, Python).
  • Providing hands-on design, testing, assembly and repair of geophysical tools and components.
  • Contributing to product innovation, documentation, and scalable manufacturing.
  • Supporting multiple projects with electronic control expertise and technical guidance.

What you will bring

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering plus 5+ years industry experience.
  • 3+ years leadership or project management experience.
  • Proven expertise in digital signal processing, fast ADCs, MCAs, and Zynq-based applications.
  • Skilled in hardware design: VHDL/Verilog, Xilinx/Altera platforms, analogue/digital circuits, CAD, and simulation tools.
  • Proficient in firmware and controller development, with Linux, C++, and Python programming experience.
  • Strong cross-disciplinary understanding and safety-conscious approach aligned with engineering standards.
