About the role


We are excited to announce a temporary opening for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our UK team. This role will last for one year as our current Payroll Officer takes on a global project.

Our payroll officers play a vital role in supporting our payroll processes. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy and compliance with Orica standards and UK legislative regulations. Your main focus will be the payroll process in the UK, but you will also be supporting our colleagues in Belgium and be the point of contact to our external payroll provider.

What you will be doing


In this role, you will be responsible for administering offline payroll data and processes with a high level of precision. You will provide expert advice on employee leave management and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Managing queries related to payroll through our Service Now ticketing system will be a key part of your responsibilities, along with conducting payroll General Ledger (GL) reconciliations.

You will execute payroll input and manage relationships with external service providers, as well as oversee year-end processing and reporting. Additionally, you will offer legislative advice to ensure accurate payments and provide regular ad hoc reporting as required. Supporting relevant payroll projects and managing stakeholder relationships will also be crucial, as you analyze legislation and advise on compliance matters.

What you will bring

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll function in the UK
  • Strong understanding of HR and payroll policies, processes, and legislation relevant to the UK
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize complex tasks under tight deadlines
  • Experience managing payroll across multiple countries is a plus
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • A good command of French to support our colleagues in Belgium
