About the role
We are currently seeking a talented Bench Assistant – Open Cut to join our team. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality bulk explosive services to our customers, ensuring safety and environmental responsibility at all times.
Working closely with the Shotfirer or On-Bench Supervisor on site, the Bench Assistant will support tasks related to loading, tying, and firing blasts. This is a rotational position based at the Aktogay Copper Mine Site, reporting directly to the Site Supervisor.

What you will be doing
- Ensure personal and team safety, environmental protection, and compliance with operational standards. Report all incidents and participates in safety meetings and training.
- Deliver services aligned with client expectations in terms of volume, quality, and type. Assist in achieving production targets and supports operations across locations as needed.
- Completes all required training for operations, SHEC, and site-specific needs. Maintain personal training records in line with the Orica Training Matrix.
- Monitor and report any variations in product specification, appearance, or performance to site management.
- Maintain housekeeping standards and performs additional duties as instructed, within the scope of competence.
What you will bring
- A strong focus on personal and team safety, with the ability to follow safety protocols and report incidents promptly;
- Willingness to work in a rotational schedule at remote mine sites, with the physical capability to perform hands-on tasks in challenging environments;
- Ability to work closely with Shotfirers, Supervisors, and site teams to ensure smooth and efficient blasting operations;
- Vigilance in identifying and reporting product variations or operational issues that could impact performance or safety;
- Openness to ongoing training and development, including site-specific procedures and SHEC requirements, with a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.
