About the role
We are pleased to be recruiting for Process Technician roles at our flagship Yarwun manufacturing site located in Gladstone, Queensland, as part of the site’s ongoing growth and expansion.
The Yarwun site manufactures a range of chemical products used across the mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and water industries locally, nationally, and internationally. Orica has operated at Yarwun for over 30 years and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance while minimising the impact of its manufacturing activities on the local community.
As the site continues to grow, opportunities exist for Process Technicians to support the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing assets across the site’s processing facilities. These roles form part of a shift team working a 12‑hour rotating roster (2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, followed by 6 days off). Additional hours may be required to meet business and training requirements.
What you will be doing
- Ensuring all work practices and plant operations comply with safety, health, and environmental standards;
- Conducting routine inspections, monitoring plant performance, analysing manufactured products, and participating in operational problem-solving;
- Supporting start-up, continuous operation, and shutdown activities of plant equipment, including completion of plant logs, inspections, and effective shift handovers.
What you will bring
- A relevant trade qualification or equivalent;
- Experience in continuous manufacturing, ideally within a Major Hazard Facility, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing environment;
- Strong troubleshooting capability within an operational plant setting;
- Well-developed numerical, analytical, and systems-thinking skills.
