About the AusPac Graduate Program

We are excited to invite applications for our 2026 Engineering Graduate Program, commencing in February 2026.

 

As a graduate, you’ll be part of a two-year program featuring:

Your Role as a Graduate Engineer

Depending on your discipline, you’ll contribute to critical operations and projects that drive innovation and performance across our sites.

 

Opportunity: Graduate – Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer
As a Graduate – Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer at Orica, you’ll help modernize plant operations through smart systems and continuous improvement.
What you'll be doing:
•    Support asset management strategies to maximize plant uptime and equipment reliability;
•    Perform fault finding and problem solving to quickly resolve technical issues;
•    Assist with planned and reactive maintenance, including major plant shutdowns;
•    Maintain a wide range of manufacturing equipment, gaining hands-on experience across various systems.

 

Opportunity: Graduate – Electrical Control Systems Engineer (Kurri Kurri, NSW)
As a Graduate – Electrical Control Systems Engineer, you’ll help bridge the gap between hardware and software in our mobile manufacturing units (MMUs), depots, and downstream manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop your skills in automation, design, and control systems engineering.
What you’ll be doing:
•    Designing and automating fixed and mobile manufacturing equipment;
•    Developing control systems for raw material storage and delivery and depot infrastructure;
•    Collaborating on Load Plus automation projects, integrating hardware and software for operational efficiency;
•    Contribute to engineering and design of control systems using PLCs, HMI/SCADA.

 

Opportunity: Graduate – Electrical Engineer 
As a Graduate - Electrical Engineer at Orica, you’ll gain practical experience working with high- and low-voltage systems, supporting plant maintenance, and contributing to critical shutdowns and upgrades.
What you'll be doing:
•    Maintain and support plant electrical assets, including HV/LV systems, AC/DC equipment, and switchgear;
•    Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, applying engineering principles to improve reliability;
•    Develop knowledge and skills in the operation and use of instruments in modern control and safety systems;
•    Participate in planned and reactive maintenance, including major plant shutdowns;
•    Work hands-on with electrical infrastructure, gaining exposure to real-world industrial systems and safety practices.

 

Opportunity: Graduate – Chemical / Process Engineer
As a Graduate – Chemical / Process Engineer, you’ll be gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge industrial processes and technologies.
What you’ll be doing:
•    Get involved in real-world hazard identification and risk assessments, learning how to spot and manage potential safety issues;
•    Support real-world manufacturing operations, assist in incident investigations, uncover root causes and contribute to safer future operations;
•    Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our operations meet both regulatory and internal safety standards;
•    Contribute to the design and optimization of safe manufacturing and storage processes, especially for explosive or high-risk materials.

What you will bring:

You’re studying or have recently completed a degree in:
•    Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering
•    Electrical, Control Systems Engineering
•    Chemical, Process Engineering or related discipline

Graduation year: 2024 or 2025
Degree level: Bachelor’s, Postgraduate, or Master’s

Location and Support

Your first rotation will be based at either of these locations:
Kurri Kurri Technical Centre - Kurri, NSW
Kooragang Island site – Newcastle, NSW
Deer Park Quarry Services- Deer Park, VIC
Yarwun Manufacturing site – Gladstone, QLD

Future rotations may include other exciting locations across AusPac (to be confirmed).
