About the role
As the Territory Manager for Orica’s Mongolia business, your skills and experience are essential to delivering strategic growth outcomes, contract execution and best in class operational performance at the operations we service. Your role will have full P&L ownership, commercial and operational accountability. This is a high-impact role requiring a blend of strategic leadership, operational, and effective stakeholder management experience.
Operating in a complex, growing and regulatory-heavy market, the successful candidate will drive sustainable growth, manage challenging supply chains, navigate delicate legal and community landscapes, and build strong relationships with our joint venture partner, local communities, customers and industry peers in-country.
What you will be doing
- Support the development and execution of regional strategy to optimise the profitability of the Mongolia business;
- Drive strategic growth, developing business opportunities and identifying points of differentiation to create customer value;
- Ensure that a motivated, competent and appropriately trained team is in place to deliver business needs now and in to the future;
- Responsible for bid tender preparation & negotiation, through to contract finalisation;
- P&L management – Hold full accountability for the country’s financial performance, budget development, cost optimisation, and growth delivery;
- Actively manage assets through their lifecycle, including capital planning and driving effective maintenance strategy;
- Relationship management – Serve as a custodian of the company’s local Joint Venture, maintain engagement at all levels of your accounts and create robust networks with suppliers;
- Risk management – Dynamically develop and implement business continuity plans to mitigate external volatility;
- Compliance – Leverage a skilled cross-functional team to ensure our licence to operate and comply to Mongolian labour laws, tax regulations, and environmental standards etc.;
- Manage operational activities at operations we service along with facilities we manage in-country, inline with applicable Safety, Health, Environment & Security policies;
- Facilitate board reporting standards, ensuring the Orica Mongolia board can meet their fiduciary duties.
What you will bring
- Role suited to individuals with 10+ years’ work experience, within Mining, Oil & Gas, Industrial and other relevant B2B markets, with 5 of those years ideally leading small to medium teams;
- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, business, economics, finance, science or equivalent;
- Proven experience influencing and building strong relationships with executive leadership, cross-functional teams and external stakeholder groups;
- Willingness to challenge the status quo, learn new knowledge domains quickly, and socialise different approaches and points of view;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
- A proven track record of leading across cultural contexts;
- An eye for operational excellence and the discipline required to maintain the standards you set;
- Able to build structure in ambiguous situations and establish best practices;
- Mentorship which continues to foster and develop a highly capable local workforce.
