About the role
As a Senior Site Supervisor – Underground, you will lead Orica’s on-site teams, supporting the Territory Manager in driving daily operations, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering innovative services. Safety is our Priority, and this role ensures that all the activities are followed keeping Safety in mind. Lead the team’s growth, ensure a safe and efficient site, and identify opportunities for improvement. Manage finances strategically while executing key operational and safety policies to deliver success.
The successful candidate will be based in our Udaipur with frequent travel to the mine sites (with adaptability to remote or challenging environments).
What you will be doing
- Ensures the implementation and execution of various SOPs at all the UG sites (HZL) including that of Safety, maintenance and Operations.
- Creates ample opportunities for the development of 2nd IC in the operations.
- Provides analytical/decision support to Supervisors on continuous improvement plan for decreasing operational costs.
- Participates in the short, medium, and long-term planning activities of the sites.
- Meets fixed cost budgets on a yearly basis.
- Completes mandatory monthly inventory counts and reconciliations, safety meetings, and ensures all actions assigned to the Site are completed required databases.
- Audits and inspects site operations to ensure regulatory requirements are met and are performed safely in accordance to Company' policies.
- Ensures mandatory training of all employees is completed and documented.
- Manage employee training plans. Documents all training activities, develop, motivate and supervise employees for performance to full potential while safely providing customer service.
- Ensures that good housekeeping, record keeping, and preventative maintenance programs are in place.
- Assists in preparation of fixed cost budgets, capital expenditures, staffing, equipment requirements, and a updated Resource Model.
- Analyses site inventories to minimize product quantities and improve site profitability through stock rotation and management.
- Supports in scheduling daily activities of employees to meet customer requirements and ensure proper management of site including raw material ordering, and preventative maintenance.
- Communicates and develops/implements action plan to address any operational issues with Site Supervisors.
- Effectively communicates and manages all outside regulatory agency audits/inspections and implement necessary action plans as required.
What you will bring
- B Tech Mining/ Mechanical/ Mining Machinery Engineer with Underground mining background
- At least 8+ years accumulated experience in UG operations, planning, maintenance, engineering, and drill and blast.
- Proven leadership and team development skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with sound judgment and execution capability.
- Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives would be desirable.
