About the role - Technical Services Representative, WebGen (Sudbury, ON)

Location: This role is to support our clients in Eastern Canada

Rotation schedule available:

  • 7 days of work for 7 days off
  • 14 days of work for 14 days off

WebGen is changing how blasting is planned and delivered. In this hands-on technical role, you will help clients safely and reliably integrate the WebGen wireless blasting service at their sites, from blast design and field execution to troubleshooting, performance reporting, and continuous improvement.

You will serve as a trusted technical partner for both the client and Orica, combining engineering knowledge, practical problem-solving, and strong relationship skills to deliver successful outcomes. 

What you will be doing

  • Lead safe implementation: Apply Orica and client safe operating procedures, support Health & Safety initiatives, and ensure required WebGen risk assessments, approvals, inductions, and change processes are completed. 
  • Support field execution: Encode WebGen primers, directly supervise correct loading into the corresponding blast holes, and oversee firing in line with approved blasting procedures and client-approved blasts. 
  • Partner with clients: Lead day-to-day technical communication, provide WebGen coaching, and build strong client operational and technical relationships throughout service delivery. 
  • Contribute to blast design: Work with or support the client’s drill and blast engineering team on blast designs that incorporate WebGen. 
  • Manage technical data: Ensure blast design, loading, and firing data is recorded, downloaded, stored, and controlled in accordance with WebGen procedures. 
  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment: Identify and resolve technical issues and coordinate maintenance of firing equipment to support WebGen system reliability. 
  • Plan for service continuity: Forecast WebGen usage and manage site inventory requirements. 
  • Measure and communicate value: Track field-based key performance indicators and provide regular progress reports to the client and Orica. 
  • Drive continuous improvement: Identify and evaluate new opportunities to apply WebGen plus other Orica technologies and improve client outcomes. 

What you will bring

•    1 to 2 years of blasting experience in mining operations; underground experience is preferred 
•    1 to 2 years of experience in mine planning or other equivalent mining experience
•    Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in mining, civil, surveying, geology, or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience 
•    Project management capability 
•    Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and investigative skills 
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
•    Bilingual English and French, preferred

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

 

Compensation

Between $84,000 and $100,000 per year
Eligible for short-term incentive
