About the role
This critical leadership role manages site operations, personnel, and equipment to ensure compliance with service agreements, corporate policies, and regulatory standards. The Sr. Site Supervisor will lead the implementation of Orica’s Safety, Health, Environment & Security (SHES) and Quality programs, driving operational efficiency, safety performance, and team development.
This role is headquartered at Orica’s Kuala Lumpur office and holds strategic responsibility for managing downstream operations across Peninsular Malaysia. The Senior Site Supervisor will also lead the national maintenance team, ensuring the effective upkeep, reliability, and performance of all operational assets throughout the region. The position oversees a dynamic workforce, with 3 direct reports and approximately 50 indirect reports, driving operational excellence and safety across multiple sites.
What you will be doing
SHES (Safety, Health, Environment & Security)
• Accountability for SHES programs for your operational territory, including on-the-job verifications and safety checks.
• Ensure annual review of all applicable Orica Model Procedures.
• Visible leadership with your direct reports to ensure they:
a) Proactively address safety concerns and enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
b) Ensure Work Permits and SHEC permits are completed before any work begins on site.
c) Report injuries and accidents immediately and accurately.
d) Communicate Orica Safety Standards to employees, vendors, and customers.
e) Ensure all equipment is maintained in safe, operational condition.
f) Direct SHES and compliance-related activities across the site.
g) Effectively manage external regulatory audits/inspections and implement corrective actions.
Performance Metrics: Reduced number of accidents, incidents, and near misses involving personnel and vehicles. KPIs aligned to group thresholds
People
• Proactively recruit, train, and retain team to develop a steady talent pipeline
• Track completion and documentation of all mandatory training; drive site level training compliance by closely working with regional training team
• Develop, motivate, and supervise employees to achieve their full potential while maintaining safety and service standards.
• Conduct objective setting and performance evaluations for direct reports
• Design and implement a structured competency development program for key operational roles.
• Communicate Orica standards and expectations clearly to all team members.

Performance
• Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operational costs and increase efficiency
• Develop and lead a structured maintenance program for all critical assets in the business to minimize downtime & improve productivity
• Lead short, medium, and long-term planning for site operations and resource allocation in co-ordination with sales team.
• Lead monthly inventory counts, safety meetings, and complete annual Letter of Assurance; ensure timely closure of assigned actions.
• Track product quality issues promptly and support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Periodically audit and inspect site operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies.
• Assist in preparing fixed cost budgets, capital expenditures, staffing plans, and resource models.
• Analyse inventory levels to optimize stock rotation and improve profitability.
• Oversee the employee activities to meet customer requirements and manage raw material ordering and maintenance planning.
Performance Metric: DIFOT (Delivery in Full on Time), Equipment & Manpower Availability, Operating Cost vs Budget.
What you will bring
• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical or Mining
• Preferably 10 years accumulated experience in explosive industry with exposure to quarrying operations
• Internal candidates with proven experience in building teams from the ground up and scaling operations through the development of robust, sustainable processes are strongly encouraged to apply.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience in site operations or plant supervision
• Proficiency in SAP, resource modeling, and Microsoft Office tools
• Strong knowledge of Orica’s operational processes and equipment
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for hazardous sites
• Mechanical aptitude and excellent analytical skills
