About the role

 

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Specialist – Statutory Compliance to join Orica, based in our Almaty office, Kazakhstan.
 
 
In this role, you will play an important part in supporting our operations in Kazakhstan and across the wider region, including the UAE, Bulgaria and beyond. You will help ensure Orica’s ongoing compliance with national legislation, industry standards and internal requirements, enabling our teams to operate safely, efficiently and sustainably. This position reports to the Senior Specialist Regulatory.

What you will be doing

 

 

  • Monitor and interpret regulatory requirements, communicating updates clearly to operational teams and ensuring alignment with Orica’s internal processes. 
  • Prepare, submit and track permits, licences, certificates, declarations and notifications, and support regulatory assessments for new or changing activities and projects. 
  • Participate in internal audits and compliance reviews, supporting corrective actions and helping translate legislation into clear, actionable internal requirements. 
  • Maintain and continuously update regulatory monitoring systems (such as Worldlex), ensuring documentation is accurate, current, traceable and audit‑ready, including templates, registers and translations. 
  • Collaborate across functions (Operations, SHES, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Legal and Territory Managers), provide coaching and guidance, and support regulatory inspections and engagement with authorities and external auditors.

What you will bring

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Regulatory Affairs, Law, Environmental/Safety Management, Engineering or a related discipline, with experience working in regulated environments. 
  • Practical experience with regulatory frameworks in Kazakhstan, the Middle East or Europe; multi‑country exposure is a strong advantage. 
  • Experience in industrial or high‑risk sectors (such as mining, civil explosives or heavy industry), with a solid understanding of permitting and compliance documentation. 
  • Hands‑on experience with regulatory monitoring systems (e.g. Worldlex or similar) and strong attention to detail, documentation control and audit readiness. 
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex legislation into practical guidance and work effectively across cultures and functions.
