Your role as a Graduate - Engineer
As a Graduate - Engineer, you'll begin your career within Orica's world-leading Technical Services team, where you'll gain hands-on experience supporting blasting operations across surface and underground mining environments.
The role provides structured development in blasting engineering, explosives technology, blast design, initiation systems, digital blasting solutions, field operations, and customer support.
Through structured learning, mentoring, and practical site experience, you'll develop the technical capabilities to progress into a Blasting Engineer and Technical Services Engineer roles within Orica.
Orica is the leading supplier of commercial explosives which enables our graduates to rotate through the most extensive range of blasting applications in different markets:
- Open-cut Metalliferous
- Open-pit Coal
- Underground Metalliferous
As such our graduate positions supports re-location to our technical hubs:
- Brisbane, QLD
- Mackay, QLD
- Perth, WA
- Kalgoorlie, WA
- Newcastle, NSW
- Adelaide, SA
What you will be doing
- Work alongside experienced Blasting Engineers, Technical Services Engineers, Operations teams, and customers;
- Support the design, planning, and review of blasting activities across customer sites;
- Develop an understanding of explosives technologies, initiation systems, and blasting applications;
- Participate in blast audits, field inspections, surveys, and quality assurance activities;
- Analyse blast performance data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives;
- Learn how factors such as geology, rock characteristics, blast design, and timing influence operational outcomes;
- Assist with the implementation and use of industry-leading technologies including BlastIQ™, SHOTPlus™, FRAGTrack™, and WebGen™;
- Build practical experience in both surface and underground mining environments.
What you will bring
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline;
- Completed degree in 2026 or earlier;
- A willingness to travel and work in field-based environments;
- Exposure to mining, quarrying, construction, or resource industries through internships, vacation work, or university projects (desirable).
Your qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline;

Location and Support
Your first rotation will be based at Townsville, QLD.
Future rotations may include other exciting locations across AusPac (to be confirmed).
