About the role


Based in Townsville, the Account Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the East Coast Metals & PNG/Pacific team to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of products and services to our customers.

This role provides end‑to‑end administrative and commercial support, acting as a trusted partner to operational, commercial and technical teams. You will help keep day‑to‑day operations running smoothly, support contract execution, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance how we work and deliver value to our customers.

What you will be doing


In this role, you will support your team’s portfolio and commercial performance by assisting with the management and execution of operational contracts, which may include commercial explosives, people, equipment and technical services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring contract compliance and supporting governance requirements across a diverse customer portfolio.
  • Acting as a key systems user and process champion, producing accurate reports and insights to support decision‑making.
  • Supporting customer account management, including new customer set‑ups, invoice queries and data integrity.
  • Providing system support and training to site and operational personnel.
  • Assisting with PNG visa renewals and applications for expatriate employees.
  • Supporting export activities in line with regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Identifying and contributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.


This role is primarily office‑based; however, you will occasionally spend time in the field to support operational and business requirements.

What you will bring

 

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an office management, coordination or business administration role;
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, finance or engineering (highly regarded);
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills;
  • Advanced computer literacy, with strong Excel skills and experience using SAP (4S) highly desirable;
  • Well‑developed analytical, problem‑solving and data management capabilities;
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment;
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness and the ability to work effectively with diverse, multidisciplinary teams;
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset aligned to Orica’s values of safety, accountability and teamwork.
