About the role

 
We are delighted to announce that we are looking for a talented Technician – Electrical to join our team at the Orica Manufacturing Plant based in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan.
 
 
The Technician – Electrical is responsible for creating, maintaining, and repairing electrical and electronic components, instrumentation, and equipment used on site. This role is critical in ensuring that machinery and specialized equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably, supporting uninterrupted production and operational excellence.
 
 
This position will report to the Maintenance Manager and plays an important role in shaping the future of Orica by contributing to safe operations, continuous improvement, and technological reliability across our manufacturing processes. As a future shaper of Orica, you will help drive performance today while building a safer, smarter, and more sustainable tomorrow.

What you will be doing

 

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, instrumentation, and electronic equipment to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and utility equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and implement effective, safe, and timely solutions.
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and upgrades.
  • Comply with Orica’s safety standards, procedures, and quality requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.

What you will bring

 

  • Technical qualification or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnics, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical maintenance, instrumentation, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong fault-finding, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently and contribute to Orica’s future success.

Your qualifications

 

  • Technical diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnics, Automation, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, instrumentation, or industrial/manufacturing environments, preferably within chemical, mining, or heavy industry.
  • Solid understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels, motors, sensors, and basic PLC/instrumentation principles.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, electrical codes, and maintenance best practices in a regulated industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing plant environment and participate in on-call or shift-based maintenance activities if required.
