About the role


We are delighted to announce that we are inviting applications for the role of Vice President, Nitrogen. In this pivotal global role, you will lead the development and execution of Orica’s long-term Ammonium Nitrate and Nitrogen sourcing strategy, ensuring security of supply in a complex and highly competitive global market. Reporting to the President, SHES, Discrete Manufacturing and Global Supply, you will shape strategic partnerships, optimise global sourcing, and deliver outcomes that strengthen Orica’s competitive advantage.

This role is central to Orica’s growth and sustainability agenda. You will lead the AN Global Trading Hub, manage critical commercial relationships across multiple regions, and collaborate with senior leaders to navigate complex market dynamics. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving our Scope 3 emissions reduction targets and embedding sustainable practices across the global supply chain.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a background in global commodity or sourcing leadership roles, a passion for problem-solving, and strong commercial, analytical, and execution skills. What you will be doing

 

  • Lead the design and execution of Orica’s global Nitrogen strategy to ensure security of supply and long-term value creation.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the AN Global Trading Hub and manage global AN partnerships.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability across regions.
  • Partner with regional supply chain, commercial, and finance teams to align strategies and deliver value.
  • Optimise working capital and reduce sourcing costs across all regions.
  • Negotiate and manage key contracts, ensuring compliance with global standards.
  • Drive delivery of Orica’s Scope 3 emissions reduction roadmap.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration to resolve challenges and improve processes.

What you will bring

 

  • Role ideally suited to individuals with a minimum of 15 years’ experience in a similar global commodity sourcing or supply chain leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and coaching skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Proven ability to influence executive leadership and lead complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A deep understanding of the Nitrogen value chain and its commercial drivers.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, engineering or similar (post-graduate qualification or MBA highly regarded).
