About the role
The purpose of this role is to lead the regional deployment, installation, and configuration of AI-enabled hardware and GenAI RAG capabilities on Orica’s Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs). An iMMU Deployment Technician, you will orchestrate complex project activities, providing a strategic interface between global product development and regional mining operations to deliver measurable value through predictive maintenance and digital excellence.
What you will be doing
1. Safety Leadership & AI Compliance

Adhere to Orica Safe Operating Procedures and champion SHE initiatives specifically for high-voltage AI componentry and sensors.

Ensure all on-site hardware installations comply with both Orica and customer standards, performing rigorous risk analysis for "live" vs. "remote" diagnostics.
2. AI Hardware Installation & Project Leadership

Lead the integration of AI hardware onto the MMU fleet, managing component lead times, kit assembly, BOM ordering, critical spares, and technical documentation.

Scope site-specific requirements for multivariate data access (CANBUS, IO logs) and interface with mine communications (VSS, IBMS).

Coordinates the full hardware rollout pipeline within the region, ensuring focus on high-impact strategic targets.

Imaging devices.

Activation and testing of MMU comms for Predictive Maintenance (PdM )and Vision Safety System (VSS)
3. RAG & Language Translation Facilitation

Collaborate with Global teams to validate that Gemini RAG and static workflow resolution steps and language translations meet local regulatory and safety obligations.

Identify regional nuances in "Fault-to-Resolution" mapping to ensure safety meaning is preserved during translation.
4. Strategic Stakeholder Empowerment
-
Foster proactive engagement with Mine Management and IT departments to demonstrate the ROI of predictive failure warnings.

Deliver comprehensive training to regional Digital Specialists, acting as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Intelligent MMU system.
5. Continuous Product Evolution

Provide high-level feedback on model accuracy (RUL predictions) based on field-validated maintenance outcomes.
What you will bring
Critical

Background in mobile plant, electronic, networking, or mining technologies
-
Hands‑on experience installing and configuring vehicle‑mounted digital systems
-
Hardware and software configuration experience (edge devices, sensors, cameras)

Experience installing and commissioning vehicle‑mounted communications systems (LTE/4G/5G modems, SIMs, antennas, cabling)
-
Ability to diagnose power, connectivity, and data‑flow issues on mobile equipment
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills
-
Technical documentation, reporting, and handover capability
-
Office‑ and field‑based training or knowledge‑transfer experience
-
Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time
Preferred

Trade qualification in Mobile Plant Technology (AUR31220) or equivalent heavy vehicle trade

Auto electrical experience or training

Mechatronics exposure

Electrical or instrumentation exposure as applied to mobile equipment

OEM or vendor communications training (modems, antennas, telematics)

Vehicle mounted telematics installation experience

Fleet management systems (cameras, GPS, modems)

Mining vehicle communications exposure

Use of commissioning checklists and structured handover testing

Fault isolation using logs, indicators, and diagnostics

Mining processes and systems knowledge

Customer support methods and systems

Data literacy (Excel / Power BI) to validate system and AI outputs
