About the role 

The Specialist – Logistics is responsible for managing and overseeing the logistics operations of the entire Orebody Intelligence business unit in the Latin America region. This role involves coordinating the efficient movement of goods, ensuring compliance with national and international trade regulations, and optimizing logistics processes to achieve operational goals. Additionally, the specialist will be responsible for key business controlling functions, providing financial and strategic support for decision-making.


What you will be doing

Safety, Health, Environment and Security (SHE&S)

  • Uphold and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members and contractors
  • Promote and maintain a strong focus on safety, health, environmental, and security standards.
  • Ensures compliance with Orica’s SHandE and Procurement policy and governance including in utilising preferred suppliers list.


Logistics Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize the regional supply chain.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage reordering processes to prevent shortages.
  • Responsible for stock orders and stock management, supported by Lead Operations team.
  • Accountable for healthy utilization and stock management for supporting customers and distributors.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, distributors, and customers to ensure smooth transportation of goods.
  • Manage and track shipments to ensure timely delivery, provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Schedule and oversee the transportation of goods via air, sea, and land.
  • Establish a transparent system for shipment status and tracking, along with KPI’s on expected delivery time frames

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs, import/export laws, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and process required shipping and export documentation.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and adjust logistics practices accordingly

 

Business Controller:

  • Supervision of correct cost allocation by business unit
  • Validation of accounting and financial processes and identification of inefficiencies
  • Implementation of processes and controls to mitigate negative impacts from identified inefficiencies
  • Continuous improvement proposals for financial and logistics processes
  • Monitoring of financial and logistics KPIs
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies

 

Process Improvement:

  • Analyze logistics and business processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels
  • Utilize logistics software and technology to streamline operations.

 

Leadership and Reporting:

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, and internal teams.
  • Escalation on logistical and business changes that may result in business impact.
  • Preparation of management reports and interactive dashboards

 

Key Systems:

  • Asset Tracking: Asset Tiger and Jira
  • Stock Ordering: Axis Product Ordering in Power Apps and CIN7

 

Experiences and Qualifications:

  • Studies in Logistics Engineering or Management Control Engineering with a specialization in Logistics, with at least 5 years of experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to achieve effective logistics and management practices.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance, with a demonstrated ability to enforce protocols and promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tools (e.g., ERP systems, transportation management systems).
  • Strong critical thinking for process management control
  • The Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Certification in logistics, supply chain or control management tis a plus.

 

Skills:

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software, MS Office Suite, data analysis.
  • Management Skills: High analytical capacity, ability to identify inefficiencies, and strong problem-solving skills in process management
  • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment, adaptability.
  • Multilingual Abilities: Proficiency in Spanish and English
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay updated on international trade regulations, customs procedures, and import/export laws. Prepare and manage all necessary shipping and export documentation accurately
