About the role
This role provides specialized technical support to commercial teams across Latin America in the development of new markets and business lines, as well as in strengthening existing operations within the Orebody Intelligence division. It combines deep technical expertise with field experience in hydrogeology and mineral exploration. The position is pivotal in client engagement, preparation of high-quality technical materials, and the positioning of advanced geospatial and geophysical technology solutions. The role also requires close collaboration with global technology specialists to continuously enhance knowledge, share field insights, and contribute to the evolution of use cases and technical validation
What you will be doing
Safety, Health, Environment and Security (SHE&S)
- Uphold and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members and contractors.
- Promote and maintain a strong focus on safety, health, environmental, and security standards.
- Ensures compliance with Orica’s SHandE and Procurement policy and governance including utilising preferred suppliers list.
Technical Commercial Support
- Provide technical support to the sales team during client meetings, presentations, and field technology demonstrations.
- Work closely with the commercial team to design sales strategies based on the technical value of the solutions offered.
- Translate clients’ technical needs into solutions aligned with the capabilities of the technology provided.
- Develop high-value technical solutions and proposals, customized to the specific needs of each project or client.
- Identify opportunities for improvement or innovation in the technical offering, based on direct client interactions and market feedback.
Technical Operational Support:
- Participate in technical reviews of ongoing projects, collaborating with operational and commercial teams to ensure deliverables meet technical standards and client expectations.
- Resolve post-sales technical inquiries, acting as a specialized point of contact for key stakeholders and providing clarifications, adjustments, or usage recommendations.
- Support the preparation of technical reports and result presentations, facilitating effective communication between internal teams and clients.
- Strengthen relationships with strategic clients, providing technical value in follow-up meetings, training sessions, and feedback discussions.
- Collaborate in identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts, detecting new applications or needs that can be addressed with the available technology.
New Market Development:
- Identify opportunities for applying OBI technologies in sectors or countries where they have not yet been implemented.
- Conduct technical and commercial analysis of new markets, evaluating adoption potential, specific needs, and entry barriers.
- Monitor market trends and technological developments, proposing adjustments to commercial and technical strategies to maintain competitiveness.
- Participate in trade shows, conferences, and technical events, representing the technological offering and generating strategic contacts with key industry stakeholders.
- Carry out exploratory technical visits, meeting with strategic partners, distributors, and potential clients within the region to validate opportunities and build trusted relationships.
- Act as a technical reference during the prospecting stage, facilitating understanding of the solution’s value and establishing credibility from the beginning of the commercial process
Technical Material Development:
- Prepare brochures, technical datasheets, and presentations that highlight the benefits and applications of the offered technologies, ensuring they are useful for both operational and commercial teams.
- Write articles, white papers, and abstracts for technical conferences, conventions, and specialized publications.
- Participate in the preparation of scientific posters, oral presentations, and discussion panels at industry events.
- Document field experiences and project outcomes in the form of case studies that demonstrate the added value of the technology.
Knowledge Management and Autonomy
- Stay up to date with technological developments and industry trends, specifically in hydrogeology, structural geology, and exploration
- Maintain active and ongoing collaboration with global OBI specialists to deepen technical knowledge and specific applications, share implementation experiences and field results, and contribute to the development of new use cases and technical validations of the technology.
Experiences and Qualifications
- Degree in Geology with at least 7 years of experience in Hydrogeology
- Postgraduate studies in Hydrogeology are considered a strong asset.
- Proven experience in technical roles with exposure to commercial or consulting environments.
- Knowledge of structural geology and exploration campaign design and execution is a plus.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong capabilities in technical presentations, client engagement, and solution positioning.
- High attention to detail and commitment to the quality of deliverables, both written and visual.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in dynamic environments.
- Multilingual Abilities: Proficiency in Spanish and English
