About the role

The candidate in this role will be a key technical partner supporting the successful field implementation of Orica’s sensing and connectivity technologies. The primary focus will be to lead and oversee field trials, ensure the correct integration of hardware and digital components, and act as the technical liaison between local operations and Orica’s global engineering teams.
This role requires a highly self‑sufficient professional capable of managing a technology pilot without daily supervision, ensuring high‑quality execution and clear communication with all stakeholders.

What you will be doing

•    Lead the on-site implementation and supervision of field tests for new sensing and communications technologies.
•    Ensure all field activities comply with site safety requirements and Orica operational processes.
•    Oversee the integration and commissioning of Lidar systems, imaging devices, communication networks, IP/Ethernet interfaces, Wi‑Fi systems, and related digital components.
•    Support the installation, configuration, and validation of hardware mounted on front‑end loaders and other mining equipment, ensuring robustness and compliance with safety and operational standards.
•    Collaborate closely with Orica’s global development teams, communicating technical findings, field constraints, test results, and improvement recommendations.
•    Help troubleshoot hardware, network, and software integration issues across Lidar, imaging, network communication, Cloud/Offsite Servers, API connections, and customer network environments.
•    Maintain accurate documentation of installation procedures, configuration details, test outcomes, and incident logs.
•    Build strong working relationships with site personnel (maintenance, operations, IT/OT teams) to ensure seamless execution of field trials.
•    Provide proactive feedback to Product Owners, engineers, and architects regarding system performance and potential refinements.

•    Successful execution of field trial activities according to defined timelines, safety standards, and engineering requirements.
•    Zero critical issues left unresolved beyond agreed escalation timelines.
•    Clear and consistent communication with global development teams, including weekly updates, technical reviews, and documented test results.
•    High-quality integration and commissioning of all hardware and network components.
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Educación y Experiencia

•    3+ years of professional experience in Electronics, Networking, Telecommunications, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field.
•    Required to have some industrial experience (not necessarily in mining), preferably involving hands‑on work with equipment, instrumentation, or industrial communication systems.
•    Hands-on experience with:
o    Systems, e.g. Cameras, GNSS, Lidar, etc
o    IP/Ethernet networks, Wi-Fi, and basic communication protocols
o    Basic API usage and cloud storage workflows (Azure preferred)
o    Hardware integration in industrial or mining environments
•    Strong troubleshooting skills in multi-technology environments (hardware, networking, communications, software connectivity). 
•    Ability to work autonomously, organize priorities, and manage a high-impact technical project end to end. 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English. 
•    Availability to travel frequently to mine sites as required for field testing (25% - 50% of the time).
