About the role

We are excited to invite suitably licensed and experienced Open Cut Shotfirers to join our team at Ravenswood Gold.  The point of hire will be Townsville and all accommodation and meals will be provided on shift and transport to and from site is provided.

This is a chance to secure a stable permanent role with the global market leader in blasting. At Orica, we have incredible training and organisational development infrastructure in which to support Shotfirers who wish to take the next step their careers into Technical and Blast Engineering related roles, or Leadership within our large global business. 

What you will be doing

• First and foremost, demonstrating and setting the example of our key company value: 'Safety is our Priority, Always';
• Shotfiring duties including magazine management, managing the loading, tying and firing of blasts, ability to follow drill & blast designs;
• Knowledge of electronic blasting is advantageous;
• Providing Shotfiring expertise;
• Assisting with training and mentoring of new team members;
• Working in tight unison with all blast crew teammates to provide an excellence in service to our valued customers;
• At all times acting with integrity and respect.

What you will bring

• An unquestionable attitude toward working safely as a priority;
• Previous open cut Shotfirer experience with a current QLD Shotfirer’s licence;
• Current QLD Explosives Security Clearance;
• HR Licence is advantageous;
• A positive team-orientated work ethic;
• The ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screen.
