About the role
Kickstart your career with Orica as a Trainee Blast Crew Operator in Railton!
This entry-level role is designed for individuals eager to learn and develop skills in bulk explosives delivery and quarry services. You’ll work alongside experienced operators and shotfirers in a safety-focused environment, with clear opportunities for career progression and ongoing development within Orica.
What you will be doing
- Learn to operate Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs) for delivering blasting products to customer sites;
 - Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and on-the-job training;
 - Assist with equipment checks, basic maintenance, and manual labor in outdoor quarry environments;
 - Support shotfirers with shot preparation, priming, and stemming;
 - Ensure safety for yourself, your team, and customers at all times.
 
What you will bring
- Strong safety focus and willingness to learn new skills;
 - Integrity, reliability, and a team-oriented attitude;
 - Adaptability to changing environments and physical outdoor work;
 - Mechanical aptitude (preferred);
 - Heavy Rigid driver’s license and/or Dangerous Goods licence (preferred, or willingness to obtain).
