About the role
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Field Support Technician to join the Orica East Coast Metals Maintenance Team, supporting quarry operations based in Railton, Tasmania.
This role would suit an experienced Heavy Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic who enjoys a hands-on, field-based position providing maintenance and technical support to both mobile and fixed plant equipment.
Reporting to the Asset Supervisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency across multiple Orica sites. What you will be doing
- Service, repair, and maintain mobile and fixed plant equipment.
- Travel between allocated sites for planned and breakdown maintenance.
- Provide technical advice and support to site teams.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Support audits, compliance, and safety systems.
- Use Orica asset management and maintenance systems.
What you will bring
- Electrical or Mechanical trade qualification (essential);
- Dual trade with Auto-Electrical capability (desirable);
- 3+ years post-trade experience in a similar role within heavy industry, mining, or quarry environments;
- Experience working with mobile plant, fixed plant, or heavy equipment;
- Exposure to work permits, safety systems, and compliance requirements;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in the field;
- A Heavy Rigid licence (advantageous but not essential);
- Trainer and Assessor Certificate (desirable).
