About the role
We are looking for a Team Leader – Underground to support and lead underground operations at customer sites across India.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and availability of underground equipment, coordinating maintenance activities, managing inventory, supporting safety and compliance, and leading site teams to deliver safe and efficient operations. You will work closely with site supervisors, customers, vendors, and operational teams to ensure smooth day-to-day site performance.
What you will be doing
- Lead the maintenance and servicing of Orica's underground equipment, maxi pumps, and plant assets to ensure maximum equipment availability and minimal downtime.
- Train, coach, and develop team members, including onboarding and supporting new employees at site.
- Support troubleshooting and technical problem-solving activities to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
- Manage spare parts inventory and consumables, raise purchase requisitions (PRs), support procurement activities, and ensure critical spares are available when needed.
- Supervise and support site maintenance teams, including operators, fitters, mechanics, and technicians,while driving safe work practices, discipline, and workforce capability development.
- Monitor maintenance costs and support site budget management to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
- Review operating procedures, identify process improvement opportunities, and help maintain compliance with site standards and SOPs.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers, support invoice verification and bill processing, and maintain effective supplier relationships
- Assist the Site Supervisor with daily operational activities and step in during their absence when required.
- Participate in customer meetings, maintain strong customer relationships, and provide operational updates and site reports using SAP and other systems.
What you will bring
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification.
- Experience in underground mining operations.
- Strong equipment maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of inventory management, spare parts, and cost control.
- SAP or similar ERP experience.
- Leadership and team management capabilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
