About the role


The Payroll Officer (Africa/AusPac) is responsible for providing administrative support for payroll processes for Orica employees within the Africa region. This role ensures payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Orica policies and all relevant legislative requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders, the Officer will assist in maintaining data integrity, resolving payroll queries, and supporting the delivery of a seamless payroll experience for employees.

What you will be doing

 

  • Provide customer-facing assistance, manage payroll-related queries via ServiceNow, and offer legislative advice. 
  • Execute payroll inputs, administer offline payroll processes, and manage external service providers. 
  • Ensure adherence to legislation, provide accurate advice on payments and leave management, and support compliance reporting. 
  • Conduct payroll GL reconciliations, process invoice payments, and manage end-of-year processes and reporting. 
  • Administer regional/country-specific benefits and ensure compliance with leave policies. 
  • Deliver regular and ad hoc payroll reports to meet business and legislative requirements. 
  • Contribute to payroll-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives. 

What you will bring

 

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of experience with strong understanding of HR/payroll policies, procedures, Enterprise Agreements, and regional legislation. 
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Ramco, Dayforce, SAP, SuccessFactors) and intermediate Excel skills. 
  • Strong analytical skills combined with high-level numeracy and literacy. 
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across teams. 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Flexibility to work across Africa/AusPac time zone.
