About the role
We are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a Lead - IT Portfolio Planning role to be based in our GBS Manila office with a hybrid working setup.
The Lead - IT Portfolio Planning is tasked with overseeing the global IT portfolio, ensuring effective management, planning, prioritization, and monitoring. This role involves active participation in developing strategic plans for Orica’s IT functions and services.
Close collaboration with the Group CIO and IT Leadership team is essential to create a portfolio process that ensures efficient and effective delivery. A key aspect of this role is to establish a robust and adaptable portfolio management methodology for the entire IT organization.
What you will be doing
The Lead - IT Portfolio Planning role is responsible for defining and managing the strategy for Orica’s IT projects portfolio, focusing on a 0–12-month timeframe. This includes prioritizing programs and projects based on business needs, IT improvements, and corporate risk exposure, ensuring alignment with the broader IT strategy.
The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders and Business Engagement Managers to support high-value project delivery. Additionally, the Lead will manage the planning strategy, ensuring the adoption of Orica’s IT project and portfolio management methodology, and work with the IT Leadership Team on budgeting and cost estimations.
Furthermore, the Lead will oversee the business case process for projects, monitor value metrics to maximize returns, and engage with cross-functional leaders to assess Orica’s capacity for change. They will communicate project and program portfolio statuses to key stakeholders and provide regular dashboard reports.
The role also includes managing the IT Portfolio Planning team, handling workload scheduling, professional development, and performance management. Robust support for feasibility studies and ensuring stakeholder engagement and approvals are also key responsibilities.
What you will bring
- 10+ yrs of working in a IT project/program management capacity
- Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business, or comparable industry experience.
- Experience in IT Portfolio Management
- Experience in developing business case and value framework
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills and an ability to work across all organizational levels
- Solid understanding of business needs, working to deadlines and focusing on customers beyond the technical/technology aspects
- Builds the trust of others both internally and externally
- Ability to communicate clear direction and manage performance of teams and external service providers
