About the role


At Orica, it's the power of our people that leads change and shapes our futures. We are looking for an experienced Lead - IT PMO to join our global technology team and play a key role in driving governance, transparency, and delivery excellence across our enterprise technology portfolio.

In this leadership role, you will work closely with senior IT leaders, project teams, and business stakeholders to ensure technology investments are aligned to business priorities, delivered through consistent governance frameworks, and supported by meaningful portfolio insights. You will influence how projects are managed across the organisation, provide strategic oversight of portfolio performance, and help drive informed decision-making at the executive level.

What you will be doing

  • Lead and continuously improve IT project and portfolio governance practices across the organisation.
  • Provide oversight of project performance, risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery outcomes.
  • Drive consistency in project management standards, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Partner with technology and business leaders to support effective portfolio decision-making.
  • Develop portfolio reporting and executive dashboards that provide meaningful insights to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate governance forums, steering committees, and portfolio review meetings.
  • Support project managers through governance guidance and delivery assurance activities.
  • Lead and develop a small PMO team while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

What you will bring

  • Extensive experience within IT project delivery, portfolio management, or PMO environments.
  • Proven experience leading PMO or portfolio governance functions.
  • Strong understanding of project and program governance practices.
  • Experience working with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and decision-support capabilities.
  • Experience leading or mentoring PMO teams.
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification will be highly regarded.
