About the role
We are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a Lead – Cloud & Infra Operations role to be based in our GBS Manila office with a hybrid working setup.
The Lead of Cloud & Infra Operations oversees the secure and disciplined management of Orica IT’s cloud platforms and server infrastructure within a hybrid and multi-cloud environment (including Azure, AWS, GCP, and VMware vSphere). This role involves leading the Cloud & Infra operations team and managed services partners to handle cloud resources, on-premise infrastructure, virtualization, compute, storage, backup, recovery, and archiving.
The role will also be managing cloud and infrastructure-related applications (such as Active Directory, SCCM, Commvault, and MS Entra) and enforcing governance disciplines (like FinOps, Security, and Tagging). The goal is to align with Orica’s IT and Core Tech strategy to create a simplified, standardized, cost-effective, and disciplined environment.
What you will be doing
The Lead – Cloud & Infra Operations is responsible for ensuring 24/7 IT service delivery for Orica’s Cloud & Infra Operations, which includes cloud tenancies, hyper-scaler platforms, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, on-premise IT infrastructure, and supporting systems. Key duties include maintaining high service standards, meeting KPIs, SLAs, and OLAs, driving continuous improvement, managing critical incidents, adhering to ITIL standards, proactive monitoring, providing technical leadership, ensuring reliable backups, maintaining accurate CMDB data, and fostering a high-performing team.
This role also involves establishing and maintaining operational standards, managing compliance activities, promoting a culture of ownership, leveraging technology to minimize human errors, managing risks, and ensuring a standardized operating environment. You will also be ensuring compliance with Orica IT standards, managing changes to systems, enhancing the service catalogue, optimizing cloud costs, managing lifecycle and tech debt, and engaging with stakeholders to support business goals.
As a Lead – Cloud & Infra Operations you will also be managing services from Tier 1 cloud providers, ensuring vendor alignment with the operations team, maintaining vendor performance metrics, supporting IT strategy communication, simplifying the technology landscape, optimizing operations, assisting with project transitions, and resolving complex operational issues.
What you will bring
- 5+ years in Cloud and IT Infrastructure service delivery roles
- 3+ years in Service Delivery Leadership capacity and people management
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a global team, understand business needs, effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of IT cloud platforms, infrastructure and networks;
- Cloud platforms and how to extract the capability of the major hyper scalers with sufficient operational guardrails.
- Cloud IaaS hosting and virtualisation: Experience with multi-cloud including VMWare, Azure, Google Cloud and/or AWS (Amazon Web Services), and cloud tools (GitHub, Terraform)
- Microsoft Infrastructure services
- Backup and recovery inc. Database (e.g. Commvault)
- Strong business acumen and ability to develop and implement global processes without negative impact to staff
- Project management skills and good personal time-management skills.
- Good familiarity of basic concepts of ITIL v4
- Experience with managing data in ServiceNow
- Demonstrated commercial acumen.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
