About the role
The Engineer – Blasting plays a key technical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant use of explosives across the site. In this position, you’ll provide vital engineering support in the storage, handling, and application of explosives, helping to drive high‑performance blasting operations while upholding the highest safety and regulatory standards.
You will be responsible for monitoring, auditing, and enforcing adherence to explosive regulations, ensuring full alignment with company policies and industry best practices. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on field work, precision, and the opportunity to directly influence safe and effective blasting outcomes.

What you will be doing
- Reviews each blast design to ensure it can be executed safely and without risk to people or property.
- Ensures explosives are stored, handled, and used in full compliance with safety requirements and immediately reports any condition that may compromise safety.
- Determines the appropriate danger zone in coordination with the Project Manager and authorities to maintain safe working conditions.
- Prepares a written Blasting Specification for every blast and ensures it is approved by the Project Manager prior to execution.
- Ensures strict compliance with all regulations governing the storage, handling, and use of explosives and confirms that only authorised personnel perform blasting activities.
- Confirms that all blasting equipment and accessories are suitable and safe, verifies all connections and system integrity before firing, and removes any unsafe equipment from use.
- Conducts thorough checks before and after blasting, ensures safe firing locations, verifies sentry positions, inspects the face for misfires, and oversees proper ventilation and gas monitoring after the blast.
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering(Blasting certification is an advantage).
- Formal training and valid blasting license or explosives handling certification as required by local regulatory authorities.
- Strong knowledge of explosives safety, blast design principles, and relevant regulations or industry standards.
- Experience in blasting operations, shot firing, drilling coordination, or similar field engineering roles.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blast plans, and site layouts with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to work at active project sites, including exposure to outdoor conditions and operational environments.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to work closely with project managers, authorities, and on‑site teams.
