We are excited to announce a pivotal opportunity for an Applications Engineer Lead role to join our esteemed Orica GBS team on a hybrid working setup in our Manila office in Pasig City.

The Applications Engineer Lead is responsible for guiding a skilled engineering team in managing and continuously enhancing Orica’s global workplace platforms, which include ServiceNow, Power Platform, Identity Management, and both internal and external websites.

As an Applications Engineer Lead, you will have a proactive mindset, strong interpersonal skills, and a customer-focused approach to everything you do. As a people manager, you’ll be responsible for fostering collaboration and ensuring the team delivers high-quality solutions that meet business needs.

To succeed in this role, you should have solid experience leading technical teams and a deep understanding of both business and technical challenges. Familiarity with platforms such as ServiceNow, Identity Management systems like SailPoint IIQ, Power Platform, and website management is essential. Strong communication skills are key, especially when translating business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa. A background in development or engineering is preferred, along with a willingness to stay hands-on when needed.

The DevOps and Regional Applications teams oversee the management and continuous improvement of Orica’s workplace technologies.

  • The DevOps team is responsible for the Power Platform, Identity services, external websites, intranet, IVR systems (Amazon Connect and Twilio), banking and finance applications, and the ServiceNow platform.
  • The Regional Applications team manages approximately 500 non-global applications across Australia, the Philippines, Sweden, and Mexico.

Current ServiceNow applications include Now Assist (GenAI), ITSM, ITOM/AIOps, SPM, HRSD, Legal Service Delivery, Scoped Applications, Employee Center, and Virtual Agent.

What you will be doing


In this role, you will lead a team in delivering and supporting IT applications and platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals, IT strategy, and design principles. You’ll foster a culture of innovation, continual improvement, and automation while managing vendor relationships, budgets, and platform lifecycles. Responsibilities include overseeing application support, ensuring smooth project transitions, maintaining documentation, and engaging with stakeholders across infrastructure, operations, and strategy teams. Strong leadership, flexibility, and a proactive approach to risk management and communication are key to success in this position.

What you will bring

 

  • Minimum 7 years' experience post professional qualification, including 4 years of direct people management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead a technical team, including building a collaborative approach in the development of the direction and operations of the workstream.
  • Proven influencer, able to manage processes across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience in implementing process improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated skills associated with building strong vendor &/or customer relationships
  • Experience building an innovative culture within a team that is focused on continual improvement, automation, and improve the employee experience
  • A deep understanding of ITIL and Process Improvement methodologie
