About the role


As an Analyst - Tax (North America), you’ll be based in Manila and play a key role in supporting our operations in the United States and Canada, with a specific focus on indirect taxes. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with international teams, including colleagues in North America and Melbourne, while contributing to strategic indirect tax initiatives and ensuring full compliance with regional and global standards. Your work will help drive operational excellence and support critical tax reporting and compliance processes across borders. 

What you will be doing

 

  • Ensure compliance with Orica’s tax policies and procedures across the USA and Canada.
  • Work closely with the Tax Manager based in North America and the global tax team in Melbourne, Australia, to support regional tax strategy.
  • Recommend tax planning opportunities, including restructuring to meet legal and company standards.
  • Manage tax audits and disputes in the region, and proactively address risk areas.
  • Provide tax advice on structuring, acquisitions, and divestments within North America.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of direct and indirect taxes, including obtaining tax clearance and exemption certificates.
  • Prepare and lodge all tax returns and ensure payments are made on time.
  • Assist with transfer pricing documentation and advise on cross-border transactions.
  • Support relationships with tax authorities and external advisors in the USA and Canada.
  • Contribute to tax effect accounting and monitor the region’s effective tax rate.
  • Help Tax Manager in monitoring tax losses, profit repatriation, and efficient tax structures.
  • Stay updated on tax law changes in the region and help implement necessary adjustments.
  • Coordinate with finance teams and service providers to meet compliance deadlines.
  • Take direct responsibility for filing income tax returns and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Continuously improve tax compliance and reporting processes.

What you will bring

 

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree focused on tax law or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in tax or financial management, preferably in a large company or Big 4 accounting firm
  • Experience working with multinational corporations is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and fluency in English
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with high integrity and professionalism
  • Familiarity with SAP (especially S/4HANA) and Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE is an advantage
