About the role


We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our Manila Finance team and take ownership of core accounting activities for GS5 entities. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, uphold Orica’s internal control environment, and maintain statutory compliance, while working collaboratively across GBS and business stakeholders to improve processes and month‑end outcomes.

What you will be doing

 

People Leadership

  • Support the Supervisor with process and peer coaching, including one‑on‑one guidance for Coordinators and junior team members.
  • Help identify and deliver process training using GBS‑approved programs, ensuring team capability and consistency.
  • Support the implementation and adoption of GBS strategies and ways of working.


Process Leadership

  • Partner with the Supervisor to manage assigned accounting processes, ensuring alignment, clear communication, and balanced workload allocation.
  • Drive and support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and control outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with internal control standards.
  • Support smooth process transitions and integrations into current operations.
  • Deliver accurate and timely month‑end accounting activities, in line with agreed timetables.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and Orica accounting policies.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals, and key general ledger accounts (e.g. AUC, expenses).
  • Prepare business unit financial statements (B/S, P&L, Cash Flow), trial balances, and required financial reports.
  • Manage intercompany postings and reconciliations.
  • Support external audits, including preparation of financial statements and audit queries.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting, providing insights to support business decisions.
  • Support finance projects and initiatives focused on continuous improvement and service quality.


Ad Hoc Duties

  • Act as a backup to the Supervisor for meetings, reporting, and stakeholder follow‑ups.
  • Serve as a peer backup to ensure continuity of day‑to‑day accounting and reporting activities.

What you will bring

 

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • At least 3 years of relevant post‑qualification experience within the Finance or Accounting function of a large corporate organisation, including exposure to coaching, training, or peer support.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and internal control policies, with the ability to apply them in a complex business environment.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and finance or business applications to support accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Proven stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence engaging in both conversational and business‑level English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to clearly articulate insights, explain financial logic, and present recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts or adjusted hours as needed to support global stakeholders and business requirements.
