About the role


Join our dynamic team at Orica as an Accountant, where you'll play a pivotal role in managing the financial accounting functions for both regional operating entities and group investment entities. You'll ensure compliancewith relevant accounting standards and Orica's financial controls, while also maintaining statutory compliance atboth regional and group levels.This position offers the opportunity to support our Manager or Lead Financial Controlling, making a significant impact on our financial operations and contributing to our continued success.

What you will be doing


Month‑End Processes and Procedures

  • Work closely with Orica Global Business Services (GBS) and local businesses to resolve issues and find solutions for activities within GBS scope.
  • Perform allocated month end accounting processes and procedures accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Monitor and comply with the month end timetable.
  • Manage inventory accounting processes and related postings, including reconciliation of inventory accounts.
  • Prepare and post journals, including intercompany postings.
  • Proactively monitor and action key general ledger items and reconciliations (e.g. assets under construction, general expenses)


Financial & Management Reporting

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for manual and critical accounts, ensuring timely substantiation and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Prepare trial balances and other nominated financial and management reports.
  • Prepare business unit financial statements, including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, and consolidated financial statements.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, including consolidation and analysis of business unit submissions.
  • Support group forecasting activities and reporting of results to management.
  • Contribute to the delivery of timely and reliable financial information and financial advice to support business decision‑making and Orica’s strategic plan.


Audit & Balance Sheet Review

  • Support external audit requirements, including preparation and delivery of financial statements and responses to auditor queries.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Balance Sheet Review templates as required.
  • Provide oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable balances, supporting accuracy and completeness for audit and review purposes.


Administration and Compliance

  • Comply with Orica accounting policies, internal controls, and relevant accounting standards.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, financial control, and governance requirements.
  • Maintain strong adherence to internal controls and segregation of duties.
  • Ensure stakeholder needs are met in line with agreed deliverables.
  • Provide effective finance support to internal stakeholders.
  • Support finance‑related projects and continuous improvement initiatives as directed.
  • Contribute to improving the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of assigned processes.

What you will bring


•    Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
•    Minimum 3 to 6 years’ post-qualification experience in accounting or finance.
•    Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, and reconciliations.
•    Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
•    Strong planning, execution, and problem-solving skills.
•    Sound commercial judgement with the ability to support business decisions.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
