About the role
Advance your career with a global industry leader. Orica is looking for a high‑calibre Accountant to join our Finance team, supporting both regional operating entities and group investment entities.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring strong financial governance, statutory compliance, and high‑quality reporting, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders and our Global Business Services (GBS) teams. What you will be doing
Month-End Processes & Procedures
- Work closely with Orica Global Business Services (GBS) and local businesses to resolve issues and findsolutionsfor activities within GBS scope.
- Perform allocated month-end processes and procedures accurately and on time.
- Monitor and comply with the month-end timetable.
- Prepare intercompany profit in stock calculations and perform inventory accounting.
- Comply with accounting standards and Orica accounting policies.
- Prepare and review reconciliations for manual accounts, ensuring reconciling items are substantiated.
- Contribute to delivering timely and useful financial information and advice to support Orica’s strategic plan.
- Proactively assist the business in monitoring and actioning key reconciliations, such as assets underconstruction.
- Ensure stakeholder needs are met according to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Support finance projects, cost-saving initiatives, or other tasks as directed.
- Provide finance support to group or support functions as required.
Financial & Management Reporting
- Prepare business unit financial statements, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow,andconsolidated financial statements.
- Prepare trial balances and issue other nominated financial and management reports.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process, consolidating and analyzing results, and liaising with business unitsontheir submissions.
- Assist with group forecasting (monthly and strategic) and report results to management.
Audit & Balance Sheet Review
- Prepare half-yearly audit packs, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and issued within the agreed timeframe.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
- Assist with preparing the Balance Sheet Review template.
- Assist with the asset verification process as required.
Administration and Compliance
- Comply with relevant Orica standards, segregation of duties, and Orica’s financial authority limits.
- Ensure compliance with all tax, treasury, statutory, and financial policies.
- Serve as the contact for external auditing requirements.
What you will bring
- CPA qualification (strongly preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of post‑graduate accounting experience, ideally combining Big 4 audit experience and industry exposure within a multinational company
- Strong grounding in financial accounting, reporting, and internal controls
- Experience working in large, complex, global organizations
- SAP S/4HANA experience is an advantage
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence working across regions
- A proactive mindset, with the ability to balance technical accuracy and business partnership
