About the role


We are currently seeking an Accountant to join our team based in Manila, Philippines. This role is responsible fordelivering the financial accounting function for the operating entity in Europe and Africa, ensuring compliance withrelevant accounting standards and Orica’s financial controls and standards.

What you will be doing

  • Work closely with Orica Global Business Services (GBS) to resolve issues and identify solutions for activitieswithin GBS scope
  • Perform allocated month-end processes and procedures in a timely and accurate manner, includingmanaging the General Ledger and performing inventory accounting
  • Comply with accounting standards and Orica accounting policies
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for manual accounts, and contribute to the delivery of timely and usefulinformation and financial advice to enable the achievement of Orica’s strategic plan
  • Provide decision support including analysis of any strategic options/new initiatives, and perform varianceanalysis against forecasts and budgets
  • Prepare business unit financial statements, trial balance, and other nominated financial and managementreports
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, consolidating and analyzing results, and liaising with business unitson their submissions
  • Assist with group forecasting (monthly and strategic) and reporting on results to management, and developnew analysis as required
  • Prepare half-yearly audit packs and participate in internal and external audits as requiredEnsure compliance with relevant Orica standards, Segregation of Duties, and financial authority limits, as wellas all tax, treasury, statutory, and financial policies
  • Act as the contact for external auditing requirements, introduce and ensure that the procedures are followed,and provide interpretation and application of technical accounting requirements in conjunction with GroupFinance.

What you will bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business discipline
  • A professional designation such as CA, CMA, or CPA
  • At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in accounting or finance (or related discipline) within a large,global business in a similar role
  • Experience in people leadership
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge
  • Flexibility in following EMEA time zone.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Sage, Excel, and financial modelling skills.
