About the role

We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for the position of Accountant within our dynamic organization. As a key member of our team, the Accountant will play a crucial role in delivering the financial accounting function for both operating entities at the regional level and investment entities at the group level across Orica.  

Responsibilities for this role include ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and upholding Orica's financial controls and standards. The successful candidate will also play a vital role in maintaining statutory compliance at either the regional or group level, depending on the specific focus of the position.  

Additionally, the Accountant will provide essential support to the Financial Controlling Manager or Lead, contributing to the overall financial health and success of the organization. We are seeking candidates with a strong background in financial accounting, a keen understanding of relevant accounting standards, and the ability to navigate complex financial landscapes. The role requires meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to upholding financial controls, and the capability to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment.

The role location is based in our Manila Office in Pasig. 

What you will be doing

Month End Processes & Procedures:

• Collaborate with Orica Global Business Services (GBS) for timely month-end processes.
• Handle Inventory Accounting and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Review reconciliations, contribute to timely financial information delivery, and monitor key reconciliations proactively.
• Support finance projects, cost savings initiatives, and provide assistance as required.

Financial & Management Reporting:

• Prepare business unit financial statements and issue relevant reports.
• Assist in annual budgeting, consolidation, and contribute to group forecasting.

Audit & Balance Sheet Review:

• Prepare audit packs and participate in internal and external audits.
• Assist in Balance Sheet Review and support the Asset verification process.

Administration and Compliance:

• Adhere to Orica standards, financial policies, and act as a contact for external auditing requirements.

What you will bring

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business discipline.
• Professional designation such as CA, CMA, or CPA is advantageous.
• 5 years of post-graduate experience in accounting or finance (or related discipline).
• Experience in a large, global business in a similar role.
• Proficient in Excel; SAP S4 Hana experience is a plus.
• In-depth Functional/Industry Knowledge is beneficial.
• Previous experience in an auditing firm is preferred.
