About the role
Orica is a leading provider of innovative mining solutions, committed to safety, efficiency, and sustainability. We are seeking an experienced Blasting Technician with shotfiring and bench management skills, knowledge in handling 4D bulk explosives is preferred but not essential.
Further to this being a highly skilled ikon user is a desired skillset. The i-kon™ system is the Electronic Blasting System that is used by Orica and designed for use in high value and complex blasts at large surface operations.
As a Blasting Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient implementation of Orica’s latest blasting technologies as well as planning, preparing, supporting and conducting blasts in surface mining environments. This is for a full-time permanent role working on a 7 on 7 off roster.
What you will be doing
- Engage with customers and the local market to build strong relationships and understand their needs;
- Introduce and implement new products at individual sites, ensuring smooth integration and operation;
- Manage and deliver minor projects efficiently and effectively;
- Provide expert product stewardship, including the use of EBS, wireless systems, bulk delivery systems, and digital technologies
- Collaborate with mining engineers and other team members to optimize blasting performance.
What you will bring
- Highly experienced Shotfirer / Senior Shotfirer;
- Exposure to electronic blasting systems. Orica products will be advantageous;
- Extensive experience with the i-kon™ system;
- Proficient MMU (Mobile Manufacturing Unit) operator;
- Strong understanding of blasting principles and safety protocols;
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blast designs;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
- Ideally, possess trainer assessor qualifications;
- Shotfirer license in relevant state of application.
