About the role
Reporting to the site maintenance supervisor, the technician will diagnose and work on heavy vehicle’s electrical & mechanical systems including engine
management within the Orica SOPs to ensure successful and high-quality repair of the fleet, exemplary customer service and achievement of set reliability
Key Performance Targets:
To inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair Volvo trucks, Sino trucks, MAN trucks and HOWO trucks chassis to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation.
What you will be doing
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on Volvo truck, Sino truck and HOWO truck chassis (Diesel engine mechanical)
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Repair and replace defective components such as diesel engine, transmissions, brakes, steering system, clutch, suspension and driveline system.
- Conducting inspections and monitoring of equipment.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
- carry out equipment servicing according to manufacturer and company standards (including oil changes, filter replacements and lubrication).
- Complete maintenance job cards, report and service records.
- Support breakdown response and emergency repairs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Conduct pre-task assessments during maintenance activities.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
What you will bring
- Strong understanding of hydraulics (open and closed loop), Pneumatic, Electrical systems, and Fuel injection mechanisms on Sino/Howo Trucks
Your qualifications
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Full Technician Certificate in mechanical engineering, Mechanic’s Trade Test in heavy equipment maintenance.
- 5-10 years heavy equipment experience/training on equipment such as Volvo, Sino/Howo, MAN, Komatsu and Caterpillars mobile fleet.
- Valid Heavy Vehicle driver’s license
