About the role

 

We are delighted to announce that we are looking for a Site Supervisor to join our team at Orica, supporting operations at Shanoon Resources - Galmoy Mine in County Kilkenny, Ireland.

As a Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day site activities, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of underground explosives services. You will oversee operational processes, maintain compliance with all safety, regulatory, and operational standards, and work closely with colleagues and customers to support production objectives.
 
 
The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a positive safety culture, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while contributing to Orica's vision of creating a safer, smarter, and more sustainable future for the mining industry.

What you will be doing

 

  • Lead and supervise daily site operations, ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with operational procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by conducting toolbox talks, risk assessments, site inspections, and ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Coordinate personnel, equipment, and resources to meet customer requirements and operational targets.
  • Monitor operational performance, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders, maintaining positive working relationships and ensuring high levels of service delivery.
  • Support and develop site teams, providing coaching, guidance, and leadership to ensure employee engagement and performance.

What you will bring

 

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience within mining, explosives, construction, manufacturing, heavy industry, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and risk management practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage competing priorities, and make sound operational decisions.
  • Experience coordinating operational activities, schedules, resources, and equipment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and team members.
  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, problem-solving, and operational excellence.
