About the role - 39744 - Regional Technical Services Lead (Underground Mining)
This position is responsible for leading the regional Technical Services team supporting underground mining operations, driving initiatives that create measurable value for customers and sustainable growth for Orica. The role is actively involved in projects related to tunnel development, underground production, drilling and blasting cycle optimization, and the implementation of technical solutions that improve customer safety, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Location: Monclova, Coahuila.
What you will be doing
- Champion Orica’s Safe Operating Procedures and lead a strong, visible safety culture.
- Lead the recruitment, development, performance, and capability growth of Technical Services personnel.
- Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers while identifying business growth opportunities.
- Manage and deliver technical projects that generate measurable value for customers and support sustainable growth.
- Develop technical proposals, methodologies, and value presentations to support commercial and tender processes.
- Provide technical expertise to Territory Managers, customers, and internal teams.
- Plan resources, manage personnel deployment, and oversee area costs to support effective project delivery.
- Deliver training, accreditation, and technical learning programs for internal teams and customers, including SEB courses.
- Lead or participate in ICAM investigations when required.
- Collaborate with Digital Solutions and Geosolutions teams to implement innovative technologies, digital tools, and best practices.
What you will bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in mining operations, production, and tunnel development.
- Proven experience in underground and/or surface mining environments.
- Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting practices.
- Experience leading teams and managing personnel.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to deliver training and facilitate learning programs.
- Willingness to relocate.
- Advanced English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in technical sales or business development.
- Knowledge of multiple mining methods and market segments.
- Strong commercial acumen and financial understanding of the business.
- Experience with digital solutions and technologies applied to mining.
