About the role
We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and strategic commercial leader to join our team as Axis Regional Manager, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this pivotal, client-facing role, you will be responsible for driving business growth, ensuring financial performance, and managing all operational and commercial aspects of our business across the African region. You will work closely with distributors, clients, and internal teams to deliver outstanding results and shape the future of our commercial operations. This position requires a strong focus on top-line growth, profitability, and operational excellence.

What you will be doing
- Take full responsibility for business and financial performance in the African region, ensuring sustainable growth and achievement of ambitious financial targets.
- Lead and execute strategies to grow rental revenues, increase market share, and drive profitability across the region.
- Build, expand, and manage strong commercial relationships with distributors, key accounts, and customers, negotiating contracts and delivering value-added solutions.
- Oversee all aspects of regional operations, including freight, supply chains, inventories, and asset tracking, ensuring efficiency and alignment with global best practices.
- Collaborate with sales, finance, and global commercial teams to drive revenue targets, deliver consistent support, and align business objectives.
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, leveraging market insights and commercial acumen to deliver innovative solutions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
What you will bring
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in commercial management, business development, or operational leadership within mining, engineering, industrial services, or a related field.
- Educational background in mining, engineering, business, finance, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated track record of P&L responsibility, financial management, and delivering against commercial targets.
- Proven ability to organize, stabilize, and grow a business in challenging and dynamic environments.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with a client-focused approach and enthusiasm for engaging with customers, distributors, and key stakeholders.
- Experience managing rental business models, asset utilization, and optimizing return on investment is highly desirable.
- Aptitude for understanding technical concepts related to drilling instrumentation or mining services, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt.
- Experience working in Africa or similar regions, demonstrating resilience, initiative, and flexibility in managing travel and diverse business needs.
